Holding House, our first home at Welham Girls' School, was a lovely place to live in. In the beginning we were very homesick and it took us a lot of time to settle down. We were not used to the school routine and doing our own tasks like making our beds and polishing our shoes.

But with the love and compassion of Mrs. A. Singh and Mrs. Smith, we quickly adapted to our surroundings. We also had wonderful ‘didis', who were always there for us when we needed any kind of help. With everyone by our side, we made Holding House our home.

In the beginning it seemed as if all species of animals lived in Holding House, except civilized human beings! But we soon got settled and the house started looking nicely done up with our little stuffed toys and games. We enjoyed having a TV and a stereo system and had lots of dances on Saturday nights.

The year passed very fast and we were very sad when it was time for us to shift to the junior dormitories. But by staying in Holding House, we became very organized and prepared for our future in Welham. At the end, on behalf of all of us, we would like to thank all the members of Holding House for making our first year in Welham enjoyable and memorable!

Our Views

The Kingfisher House is a lovely one where all of us are new. We come here to make new freiends and to learn new things. Our Matron and House Mistress are very sweet, kind and caring . Our didis out here are very helpful. We have a lot of fun knowing each other and we share both good and bad moments with each other. We are always excited and work as a team. We love our house a lot and will always remember it!
