On the crisp winter morning of the 26th, the students and staff of WGS gathered in the lawns of Nasreen to unfurl the Indian flag and celebrate the 74th Republic Day. The celebrations then moved to the Shanti Varma auditorium where the school choir sang a few patriotic songs. Two students shared their views on what a free, independent India means to them. The Principal, Mrs Vibha Kapoor, in her address, spoke about the integral pillars of the constitution, especially secularism and responsible citizenship. She said that the school motto resonates beautifully with the sentiment of secularism and that Welham continues to celebrate the diversity that exists. She encouraged the students to imbibe the qualities of a responsible citizen through actions. The celebrations concluded with the entire school enjoying ladoos!
