For the second year in a row, Welhamites had the unique opportunity to attend the 78th Cannes International Film festival from the 14th to the 18th of May 2025. The group attended screenings of films such as The Red Canyon, Hard Boiled by John Woo, Said Effendi an Iranian classic, The Arch and Sterne. It was an absolute treat to watch 2 restored classic films by the Indian Film Heritage Foundation which were screened in the presence of cinematic stalwarts such as Wes Anderson, Joyce Ventura, Palme d’or winner Quentin Tarantino, Wasanthi Chaturani, Sharmila Tagore and Simi Garewal among others. The last 3 days were spent visiting the scenic picture-postcard cities dotting the French Riviera such as Nice, Menton, Monaco, St Tropez and Villeneuve sur mer. A visit to the Jean Cocteau museum and the botanical garden of Sierra de la Madone was spellbinding. Students attended an immersive competition as well.
