Five students participated in a Round Square session held virtually on 2nd August, 2023. The session was organised by Ivanhoe Grammar School and brought together over 110 participants from 24 schools in 7 countries (Australia, Bangladesh, India, Japan, Kenya, Namibia and South Africa). The topic of the group discussion was ‘Democracy in Action’ in context with Voice to Parliament, a representative body of the indigenous people of Australia. Advika Sasmal, Anukriti Dhandhania, Anoushka Bagga, Kavya Gattani and Riya Mohata.
The objective of the group discussion on ‘Democracy in Action’ was to investigate and evaluate the dynamics, difficulties, and importance of democracy in various facets of society. Participants gained a better understanding of how democracy affects governmental reform, socioeconomic development, and international relations. This group discussion promoted thoughtful debate and critical thinking, resulting in more informed and involved citizens who are better equipped to support progressive change and actively participate in the democratic process.
