The Bustle of the Hustle Culture
By Srinika Agarwal, SC Saturday, Jul 25, 2026
The internet has glamorized the hustle culture to such an extent that every moment you spend not being “productive”, you find yourself full of guilt. Every time you go online, you see thousands of people sharing their success moments and milestone posts. Somewhere between that, you end up feeling that you are the only one lagging behind.
This fosters toxic productivity, and you get so consumed by the process itself and by constantly proving your self-worth to yourself that the original goal or intention behind why you started gets lost far behind. Suddenly, you are not chasing your goal or dream; you are just chasing. The hustle culture makes you feel like a moral failure, and taking a pause, too, feels like a crime, but as Socrates famously said, "Beware the barrenness of a busy life." He reminds us that overpacked schedules and relentless hustle, more often than not, leave the soul restless and oddly empty.
Taking a step back isn’t weakness or laziness, it’s a breather. It gives you a chance to reflect and regain clarity. Rest isn't the absence of progress; it's how you make sure the progress stays pointed in a meaningful direction. One must remember that a full schedule is no guarantee of a full life.
