To fit in
By Gauri Nanda (H/116) Wednesday, Aug 18, 2021
We live in a world full of stereotypes. In a world that is controlled by social media in every aspect. In a world where the six apps on our phone screen decide our self-worth. The one thing that everyone craves in this world is “to fit in”. We tend to go to any extent to get acceptance, to fit in. In a society where you face misogyny and racism at every nook and corner, coming to terms with who you are isn’t exactly easy. We wear masks, build walls and live a life full of lies, just to be accepted. Embracing who you are isn’t what society wants us to do, because we don’t fit in with their stereotypes. All we want is to live a sane life and to do that, we can’t really be ourselves, can we? Every day there is a new beauty standard we can’t “achieve”, a trend we fail to do. We live in a world where every move we make is being watched constantly, a world where the likes on a picture and the views of a story determine our self-worth.
But you, you are so much more, you are more than the comments on our latest post, more than the number of followers you have, more than what you can possibly imagine. You are the reason for someone’s smile, you’re the first thought when they wake up, and the last one before they sleep, before your follower count, you’re a best friend to someone, because you, you are worth so much more than you think.
